A usual endocrine condition that affects women of reproductive age, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by irregular menstrual periods, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, and polycystic ovaries. Changing one's lifestyle, especially through exercise, is essential for controlling PCOS symptoms and enhancing general health. Regular physical activity has been shown to enhance insulin sensitivity, aid in weight management, regulate menstrual cycles, and reduce androgen levels. Additionally, exercise contributes to improved cardiovascular health, reduced inflammation, and better mental well-being, addressing common comorbidities such as anxiety and depression often seen in PCOS patients. Both aerobic and resistance training yield significant benefits, with a combined approach proving most effective. Incorporating exercise as part of a holistic treatment plan can significantly improve the quality of life and long-term health of individuals with PCOS.
