Formulation Development And In Vitro Evaluation Of Oral Dissolving Films Of Palonosetron
Keywords:
PalonosetronAbstract
Palonosetron is an5-HT3 antagonist used in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It is used for the control of delayed CINV—nausea and vomiting and there are tentative data to suggest that it may be more effective than granisetron. Present work aimed at preparing quick onset of action which is beneficial in hypertension, aiding in the enhancement of bioavailabity and is very convenient for administration without the problem of swallowing and using water. The film were prepared by using polymers such as Polyvinyl alcohol, Maltodextrin and Propylene glycolby a solvent casting method. They were evaluated for physical characteristics such as Thickness, Weight Variation, Disintegration time, Drug content, Tensile strength, % Elongation, Folding Endurance and Invitro Dissolution Studies give satisfactory results. The in vitro dissolution time of the optimized batch F4 was found to be 98.97%. The optimized batchin vitro disintegration time was found to 14 sec.
