Abstract

The role of pharmacists has changed from basic drug dispensing to sophisticated clinical practice that specifically enhances patient results. Pharmacists today are very important in public health, pharmacovigilance, drug therapy optimization, and chronic disease management as healthcare systems implement patient-centered and value-based approach. Along with a review of the studies supporting pharmacy-led therapies, this essay emphasizes the growing clinical responsibilities of pharmacists and points out obstacles and possibilities going forward. Studies on many occasions show that pharmacist involvement greatly lowers prescription errors, improves adherence, enhances disease management, and improves the general effectiveness of the healthcare system.
